From its conception in 1957, the MA-1 endured as the standard jet pilots flight jacket for more than 30 years. From the Cuban missile crisis, through Vietnam and the Cold War, the MA-1 was the flight jacket of the jet age.

The production of this exclusive product was inspired by William Gibson’s best selling novel - PATTERN RECOGNITION. A Black Buzz Rickson's MA-1 Flying Jacket is the main character's garment of choice. Although MA-1s were never actually produced in black by the US Military, the fictionalised version in this book was picked up by Buzz Rickson's and a collaboration between themselves and Gibson made the garment a reality.
