Type B-2 Werber Leather Coat Co. INC

The B-2 was developed by the Army Air Corps as a flight jacket for extreme cold to protect pilots from the cold. It was adopted between 1932 and 1934.

Buzz Rickson’s recreation is of the original maker Werber Leather Coat Co. Inc, who were contracted to produce this particular model.  The label therefore has been made bearing this old makers name for authenticity.

The leather used on the exterior is a superb aniline-dyed horsehide and the lining is made from a high quality melton wool blanket fabric.

The collar can but turned up and closed with buttons to give extra protection from the cold and a belt at the waist can be drawn in also to seal out draughts.

Since the B-2 was adopted before World War II, its production numbers were very few. Original examples that still exist are extremely hard to find and generally in very delicate condition.

This unique recreation is a stunning high quality piece of a truly classic pre-war flight jacket.

Very limited production piece.
