WWII US Army HBT Frogskin camo shirt

The Frogskin camo pattern is most commonly associated with WWII US Marine Corps troops in the Pacific. However, it was also used by the US Army in some selected units, such as the 2nd Armored Division and the 41st Infantry Regiment in the Normandy Campaign.

Whilst it was a very effective camouflage pattern, unfortunately, much to the dismay of the US Army troops who used it in Normandy, it was often confused by other allied units as a uniform of the enemy, since most allied combat uniforms were plain Olive or Khaki coloured.

The Germans, conversely, particularly the Waffen SS, utilised a multitude of various camo print uniforms, some of which were quite similar to the Frogskin pattern, and so allied troops who wore them often came under ‘friendly fire’, and the garment models were soon dropped.

Original US Army Frogskin HBT garments are highly desirable on the vintage collectors market, since they were not produced in large numbers after being withdrawn from service after a relatively short amount of time. They are also synonymous with the illustrious 2nd Armored Division and the 41st Infantry Regiment and their Normandy campaign involvement.
