USMC 1/9 MARINES TIGER STRIPE JACKET
Each season Buzz release a small number of special limited edition pieces - this 9th Marines Tiger Stripe party jacket is one such example.
Made from their super quality gold Tiger Stripe fabric this party jacket is a neat fitting wind-cheater with the most amazing embroidery to the back depicting the famous 1st Battalion, 9th Marines.
During the Vietnam war the 1/9 Marines sustained the highest casualty rate in Marine Corps history - earning themselves the title 'The Walking Dead'. For the very few that completed a tour-of-duty, a party jacket (or 'tour jacket') would sometimes be commissioned by the serviceman to commemorate his accomplishment. These were usually privately produced by some local Vietnamese clothier who would make the garment from military acquired cloth. It would then be embellished with insignia and mottos of the Marine's unit which he would proudly return home with as a souvenir of his service.
Inspired by vintage garments of this genre from the 1960s Buzz have done here what they do best, capturing the vintage retro appeal perfectly.
